TAHLEQUAH (ᏓᎵᏆ) brings the water spider and Sequoyah’s Cherokee numerals together on a deep blue face. Orange number forms, chosen as a reference to the Cherokee Nation’s flag, circle the detailed central artwork.
Sequoyah devised a distinct set of number symbols as well as the better-known Cherokee syllabary. Those numerals were the starting point for this design: their character drew us beyond the collection’s original focus on Eastern cultures. The water spider gives the clock its second connection to Cherokee storytelling.
The natural wood frame adds warmth to the blue and orange palette. Choose TAHLEQUAH for its unusual lettering and carefully considered subject, or as a gift for someone interested in writing systems and the stories behind them.
